Metal scraper with wooden case
When antiques become art... An opium pipe-bowl must be cleaned after several pipes have been smoked. This is done by scraping its insides clean of opium ash with a special tool made specifically for this purpose. They are like little works of art in themselves. Indeed there was a whole array of paraphenalia, and preparatory etiquette associated with smoking opium. Because opium has been a controlled substance for the last century, the pipes and accoutrements, including the scrapers are now quite rare and collectible.
